A distinctive Italian heirloom and one of Seeds From Italy's bestselling tomatoes! Red Pear is an old Northern Italian variety specially selected by Franchi Sementi for its impressive size, productivity, and outstanding flavor.

Despite the name, this is not the small pear-shaped cherry tomato commonly sold as Red Pear in the U.S. This Italian variety produces large, pear-shaped beefsteak tomatoes with attractive vertical ribbing. Fruits typically range from 8–18 ounces and have a wonderfully meaty texture with relatively few seeds.

The vigorous, indeterminate plants are excellent producers and mature relatively early for such a large-fruited tomato. With its rich tomato flavor and substantial, meaty fruits, Red Pear is an excellent choice for slicing and fresh eating as well as sauces and cooking.
