Garlic Sicilian Artichoke - Softneck Artichoke type

A traditional Sicilian heirloom softneck garlic prized for its mild flavor, heavy yields, and exceptional storage life! Sicilian Artichoke originates from the island of Sicily and is an excellent choice when you want garlic flavor that complements a dish without overpowering it.

This productive variety forms very tight bulbs with closely packed cloves. While the bulbs can take a little extra effort to separate, that tight structure contributes to their outstanding storage ability. Under proper conditions, Sicilian Artichoke can store for approximately 10 months, with some bulbs lasting well over a year.

Sicilian Artichoke performs particularly well in the Southern United States and Midwest and is valued for its reliable yields and ability to store from one harvest until the next. As a softneck variety, it is also an excellent garlic for braiding.

Planting & Storage

For best results, plant garlic in the fall when your area is approximately 4–6 weeks away from a hard freeze.

Please inspect your garlic bulbs when they arrive and contact us immediately if you have any concerns. If you aren't ready to plant them right away, store the bulbs in a dry location with good air circulation. Improper storage can encourage disease or deterioration.
