Garlic Lorz Italian - Softneck

A historic Italian heirloom softneck garlic with bold flavor, excellent heat tolerance, and impressive storage life! Lorz Italian is an artichoke-type garlic brought from Italy by the Lorz family when they immigrated to Washington state in the early 1900s.

This vigorous variety performs particularly well in areas with hot summers, where its flavor can become especially bold and robust. The smooth white bulbs contain large, plump cloves and can store well for approximately 6–8 months under proper conditions.

Lorz Italian is also included in Slow Food's Ark of Taste, a catalog dedicated to preserving distinctive traditional foods and agricultural varieties at risk of being lost.

These garlic bulbs are grown by Filaree Garlic Farm in Washington and are sold for planting.

Planting & Storage

For best results, plant garlic in the fall when your area is approximately 4–6 weeks away from a hard freeze.

Please inspect your garlic bulbs when they arrive and contact us immediately if you have any concerns. If you aren't ready to plant them right away, store the bulbs in a dry location with good air circulation. Improper storage can encourage disease or deterioration.
