A renowned Italian green with tender leaves, flowering shoots, and a deliciously sweet broccoli flavor! Spigariello, also known as Friarielli or Neapolitan Broccoletti, is a traditional vegetable closely associated with the cuisine of Naples.

Unlike Cima di Rapa, which is a flowering turnip green with a more pronounced bitter flavor, Spigariello is a broccoli-type brassica with a sweeter, milder broccoli taste. Both the tender greens and developing flower buds are harvested and enjoyed.

In Naples, Friarielli is traditionally sautéed and served as a side dish or used on pizza and in pasta dishes, often paired with olive oil, garlic, chili, or other simple ingredients that highlight its flavor.

Spigariello is a fast-growing, cool-season crop with a long sowing window. Direct sow sparingly in rich soil and thin plants to approximately 6 inches apart. Keep plants consistently watered for the best growth.

Harvest approximately 5 inches of the tender shoots, including both buds and greens. Plants can produce multiple harvests when cut regularly.
