A vigorous Italian yardlong bean that produces exceptionally long, slender pods with a crisp texture and excellent flavor! Stringa a Grano Bruno is a warm-season climbing bean that is popular in Italy and makes a unique, productive addition to the summer garden.
The long, slim beans are best harvested regularly while they are young and tender. Frequent picking encourages the plants to continue flowering and producing new pods throughout the season.
Yardlong beans thrive in warm weather, so wait to plant until the soil has warmed thoroughly—around the time you would transplant tomatoes or approximately a week after the last frost.
This is a vigorous climbing variety and requires sturdy support from a trellis, tripod, or poles. For poles, sow 3–4 seeds around the base of each pole and thin to the strongest plant. For a trellis, sow approximately 2 seeds every 6 inches and thin to one plant every 6 inches.
