Seeds - Basil (Italiano Classico)

Classic Italian sweet basil with soft, fragrant leaves and the traditional flavor associated with Genovese-style basil. This is Seeds From Italy's most popular basil variety in the U.S. and an excellent choice for pesto, pasta sauces, pizza, salads, and fresh cooking.

In Italy, this variety is called Italiano Classico rather than Genovese because the name Genovese is geographically protected for basil grown in a specific area of Liguria. It is the same classic style of Italian basil known and loved for making pesto.

Italian growers often sow basil densely and harvest the entire plant while it is young, around 5–6 inches tall. It can also be grown traditionally by allowing plants to mature and continually harvesting leaves throughout the growing season.
